Principal's Message

Welcome to El Rancho High School’s(The Ranch) school website. I am excited to begin my second year as the principal of the Dons. El Rancho High School believes in OUR SCHOOL - OUR COMMUNITY - OUR FUTURE. These shared beliefs are the pillars of the school’s Vision Statement- Ensuring High Levels of Success for ALL. Our Vision engages our students in learning experiences that are rigorous, relevant, and 21st century skills/standards based.

Our commitment to building 21st century teaching and learning extends to every facet of our school’s curriculum from our English Language Learners to  our Advanced Placement classes. This year we are proud to offer the International Baccaluareate (IB) program to our students and expect great success. Our rich tradition of college and career readiness is most visible in our career-driven pathways, A-G completion rate, and AVID program.

At the Ranch, our curriculum builds and consistently encourages the intellectual and academic characteristics essential to success in higher education: critical thinking, evidence-based analysis, technology , collaboration and communication skills. Students are challenged to push their limits, set high expectations and develop self efficacy to maximize postsecondary career options.

Our athletics department grooms scholar athletes to compete to the highest peak of their athletic potential while meeting the highest of academic standards. From football to girls water polo, our Dons do it all and have been racking up league and CIF championships since 1953.

We are very proud of our co-curricular programs who continue to build on the  tradition of excellence for El Rancho High School. Consistent positive performance at the local, county and state level has led to dozens of championships and awards over the last ten years.

In closing, I leave you with the following quote:

Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.

John Wooden

Long Live the DONS!
